As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary
of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), on
the evening of October 4, the 2024 Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival with the
theme "Hanoi - The Quintessence of Ao Dai" opened at the Doan Mon Square
stage - Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center.
This is an activity organized by Hanoi Department of Tourism under the
direction of Hanoi People's Committee.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's
Committee Vu Thu Ha said that with the goal of developing the capital's
culture worthy of the thousand-year tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi, Hanoi
determined to: Focus on preserving and promoting the values of tangible
and intangible cultural heritage, valuable relics and architectural works;
pay attention to developing cultural and tourism products with international
brands; harmoniously and smoothly combine the preservation of cultural
identity with economic development, in which culture and people are both the
goal and the resource and driving force for the development of the capital
city.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Hanoi will welcome about 21.12 million
tourists, including 4.45 million international visitors (an increase of more
than 40% compared to 2023) and 16.66 million domestic visitors (an increase
of about 6% compared to 2023), contributing positively to the capital's GRDP
growth rate.
“With the synchronous, flexible and effective implementation of tasks and
solutions in all fields, Hanoi strives to become the center and driving
force for the development of the Red River Delta, the key economic region of
the North and the whole country; striving to develop on par with the
capitals of developed countries in the region,” Vice Chairman of the City
People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized.
After 3 times of organization, up to now, the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival
has become an annual event with the orientation of building a cultural and
tourism product, contributing to promoting the image of the capital Hanoi -
"Safe - friendly - quality - attractive destination". The event also aims to
preserve and promote traditional cultural values, exploit and honor the
unique beauty of Vietnamese culture with the national Ao Dai.
This year’s Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival was invested in elaborately and on
a large scale, attracting the participation of 6 artisans, 85 designers from
the 3 regions of North - Central - South; nearly 100 booths of designers, Ao
Dai brands, accessory establishments, travel businesses, etc.
The highlight of the festival is the opening program with elaborately staged
art performances, reviving part of the image of the 70-year-old capital
Hanoi.
In the program, the audience will see many scenes, dances, and fashion shows
recreating Hanoi - the heroic, resilient, and brave capital in combat,
constantly innovating, developing, and integrating.
In addition to musical performances, there will also be performances of ao
dai collections by 70 designers, including famous names such as: Do Trinh
Hoai Nam, Duc Hung, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, Miss Ngoc Han, Thuy Nguyen, La
Hang, Vu Thao Giang, Luu Quynh Lan...
In addition, the 2024 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival has many attractive
events such as: Experiencing the "Quintessence of Ao Dai" double-decker bus;
the Ao Dai carnival program with the participation of nearly 1,000 people
taking place this morning (October 5) at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel
Heritage Conservation Center and some neighboring streets; the art program "Ao
Dai Night" taking place in the evening of the same day with the
participation of 70 designers; the final round of the Ao Dai design contest
on the afternoon of October 6...
The festival also has sideline activities such as: Exhibitions and displays
introducing Ao Dai by famous designers and Ao Dai brands; tourism products
and services, traditional craft villages; demonstrations of works by
artisans from Van Phuc and Trach Xa silk villages; folk game space; Hanoi
culinary space "Thang Long Ngu Vi" introducing light dishes imbued with
Hanoi's character...
The Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival is an annual activity to honor and
preserve the unique cultural beauty of the traditional Ao Dai of the
Vietnamese people. Through Ao Dai, the orientation and development of the
culture and tourism of the Capital are opened, contributing to making
